Easy to start playing
Music tracks that fit the game
Lots of tracks

Not much variety for cars
Very sensitive controls

Enter your F1 car, and strap on your seatbelts for some racing action. To put it plain and simple, you want to be the one that wins these races.  Your competition is fierce, and they will make it challenging for you as you try to win the coveted first place and the bragging rights that go along with the pride of winning such a race. In Park Racer, you get some racing excitement as you try and take your F-1 vehicle around 12 different tracks against your opponents to see who will emerge victorious. This is an easy game to start learning and playing. In addition, with music that fits the action on screen and plenty of different tracks to test your driving skills, there is a fair amount to see in this title.

When you load up the game, you have four different modes you can try. You can practice by yourself, before taking on your opponents, to get used to all the different tracks and the different turns and areas you may need to pay attention to. You can also enter time attack mode, where you race to get the fastest time possible on a particular track and then try it again if you wish to get an even better time. That leaves single race, where you pick your car, the track and the amount of laps you wish to race as you face off against the computer opponents for that prized position of number one. You are also able to choose what difficulty your opponents can be ranging from easy, normal or hard, so pick whichever you feel comfortable with. Finally, if your tired of racing and want a bit of fun, try bomb run, where your vehicles are armed with bombs that you can drop onto the track, slowing down your opponents in this fun style mode.

First off, the look of the game is actually nice. The environments in the game while mostly the same in a lot of cases, do look pretty good overall, and the tracks and other cars look pretty good too. The game also uses weather effects, which look good, with raindrops being quite visible while you drive along.  There are other effects that I will talk about later. The game is quite easy to start playing right away and get into the racing.  Define your controls in the option menu, pick which mode you want to pursue, and away you go. Each car has its own strengths and weaknesses, so choose wisely before you hit the track. The music is varied, and most of the time it fits with the action on screen. It's not the greatest music you will hear, but it does the job nicely in this game. There are twelve tracks in the game for you to explore, ranging from easy to really challenging. Each one will present a different challenge for you, the racer, and it is up to you to see how you do from race to race. Another interesting element is the inclusion of different power ups on the tracks. As you run into other cars, your car will be damaged and you will lose fuel. Therefore, it is imperative that you pick up such items as the wrench, which fixes damage to your car, and the gas can which will refuel your car. If you do not, well you might find yourself watching the race instead of actually being involved.

Although there are five different car choices, I thought that there could have been more variety.  However, there are some differences between them. In a way, it would have been nice to see other factors come into play, which might affect a particular vehicle.  I thought the controls were extremely sensitive, and it will take you a few tries to get used to the jerkiness of turning and driving, make sure to practice before you start racing away.

Nevertheless this was an enjoyable racing game and I recommend it.  If you are looking for a racing game that allows you to get into the game quickly and start racing away, then why not try it. Its called Park Racer, check it out and see it for yourself.
